Cooper is a whirlwind. At the farmers market on Saturday I could not keep that boy out of the tomatoes. Every time I turned around he was reaching for a tomato. Squishing them and throwing them was fun, but he also ate loads of them. Berries are a big hit as well. He was in love with the blackberries until he discovered blueberries. But he also gnaws on raw carrots, onions and even eggplant. Now that we have a wild child running around and getting into everything, I am thankful once again that our farm is free of synthetic chemicals. I never have to worry about Cooper picking a fruit or vegetable and putting it in his mouth. I don’t have to worry ever about keeping him out of the field or the greenhouse. We didn’t decide to grow our food naturally because we thought we might have a kid some day. It always just made sense to do it this way. But now that we have a toddler running around, I am ever the more grateful to have good, clean food.
