Josephine sorting and organizing seeds for 2024
Josephine sorting and organizing seeds for 2024

It is winter on the farm, which is our time of rest and reflection.  We still have work to do.  Josephine has already started the first of the vegetable seeds in the greenhouse.  There is planning to do, inventorying and purchasing supplies for the year.   Winter is an important opportunity to recharge so we can embark on the 2024 season with enthusiasm and energy.

The cold, snowy weather has us farm bound for a little over a week.  Cooper loved playing in the snow, so many snow ball fights!  All the animals were just fine, including the five baby goats born just days before the snow and extreme cold arrived.  So far some minor damage to the greenhouse water is the only adverse effect we have discovered.  Hopefully the rest of the winter will be so kind.

You can still find us at the Cooper Young Community Farmers Market on Saturdays for a few more weeks.  Then we will be taking a break from market until we return in mid-April with early season produce and vegetable and herb plants for your garden.  More information about our spring plant sale will be coming soon!  This year I am also starting a lot of native plants from seed, so we should have a wide variety of wildflowers and other native plants available in May.
