The 2023 CSA is almost over and we are having all the emotions about it. We are a little excited, a little sad, very proud of what we have produced, and quite tired and ready for a break! The last day for Wednesday shares is 11/15 and the last day for Saturday is 11/18. You might be wondering how to continue to get our fresh vegetables, and how to get on the list for 2024. We will be at the Cooper Young Community Farmers market all through November, December and January. In fact, we will keep going to market until we run out of crops to sell! We will be in touch with each of our 2023 CSA members in early January when we open registration for 2024. There will be a 2-week priority registration period for returning members before we open the CSA to new members. We’d love to be your farmers in the new year!
Cold snap
We fared pretty well through the cold snap. Everything that got covered up was just fine. The kale and collards took more of a hit than I was expecting. The plants are fine but we will have to wait for them to grow new leaves. The cold damaged all the leaves on the plants (the kale in this week’s CSA is out of the high tunnel). The beet greens and radish greens also had more damage than I expected, but the roots themselves are absolutely fine. All in all, I’d say we came through successfully.
