Last week our friend and employee, Kayla King, passed away unexpectedly. The world has just a little less good in it without Kayla. Kayla wanted to help everyone and everything. Whether taking in stray animals, people who needed a little extra help, or pulling half dead plants out of the greenhouse compost to rehabilitate, I don’t think she believed there was as any such thing as a lost cause. If you needed someone to believe in you, you could count on Kayla. She was generous. She was always bringing in snacks for everyone or little presents. She had been through a lot and she struggled to get by, and that just made her more giving of what she had. I wish she has been a millionaire. She would have spent all her money helping others. Kayla loved beauty and she saw it everywhere, in weeds and wildflowers. Her favorite thing we grow on the farm is the red cabbage that’s going in the shares this week, because of it’s beautiful color. She was loved by the people she worked with here on the farm. She took the hard days in stride, and she more than her share of life’s struggles to bear. She was funny, spirited, and she always had a story to tell. Kayla was a few years younger than me, and entirely too young to lose from this life. She is survived by her mother, Floye, and her two sons, Brentley and River. Her mother has asked for prayers.
