Saturday Members!
This week is Cooper Young Fest. We have an alternate pick up location for your Saturday CSA as there will be no Farmers Market. You should have received an email with the address, please

reply to that email so we know you are good to go!
I have not had my chance to dance in the quite yet. I am glad our farmer friends in the Memphis area and in Arkansas got some rain over the weekend. Unfortunately it didn’t make it out our way. The general rule is that vegetable crops need one inch of rain per week. It has been six weeks since we’ve had more than a sprinkle, and even then we could have used more. We have been doing a lot of irrigating with well water.
We are working hard out here, but at the moment we don’t have much to show for it. The fall crops can’t come in fast enough to make up for the poor performance of our late warm season crops. Filling the CSA is tight right now. Perhaps you’ve already had more butternut squash than you have
eaten in the past five years put together. But we had a bumper crop, and other things (like tomatoes) aren’t pulling their weight right now.
When in doubt, just keep planting. Yesterday we planted out rainbow chard, curly kale, and fennel in the high tunnel. This morning we transplanted 1,400 heads of lettuce. This evening I plant to set out the last round of broccoli. We are keeping on keeping on, trusting that abundance is right
around the corner.
