Our Open House Farm Party is this Sunday from 5pm to 8pm here at the farm, 1394 Gray Academy Road in Ashland. We do hope you will join us!

The weather has been glorious and the days have been flying by. This week we planted three beds of garlic in the tunnel where we grow our peppers in the summer. If all goes according to plan, the garlic will be coming out when the second planting of peppers is ready to go in. I wanted to plant the whole tunnel, but that would delay the first round of peppers too much. It has been many years since we have grown garlic. We gave it up because of too much disease pressure in the wet ground over the winter. We are hoping that growing in the tunnel will solve that problem. If it does well, we will have to find some more space for it. You can’t have too much garlic!
On Thursday I checked on the carrots. Usually they are ready by now. They were still too small to harvest for this week’s CSA. Hopefully they’ll be ready for next week. I am anxious to start harvesting them as I have five 180 foot beds planted in carrots. Getting them out of the ground is going to be a lot of work, and it is much more pleasant when the ground is not cold and wet. The carrots may not be ready, but the cauliflower is! All the shares will have cauliflower this week.
