Forest through the trees

Looking through my phone I realized I took zero pictures of the farm this past week.  And that’s too bad, because it’s a pretty amazing time on the farm right now.  We are hauling in a huge

amount of produce, from carrots to cabbage, potatoes to tomatoes.  Everything is green and lush and growing like wild in the heat after the rain.

But all that is also why I haven’t taken any pictures.  It’s go time all the time!  We turned up the hustle last week and brought loads of produce to market.  But now we have to maintain that level of intensity through the whole month of July.  And also August.  And really September, too.

It is a lot.  There is just a lot to do.  I have to stop thinking about it now because I am working myself into a bit of a panic.   My point is that it can be hard for us to notice the incredible successes all around us because we are so focused on getting through the growing list of tasks each day.   And even when I take a moment like this to intentionally reflect on how amazing it is that we are harvesting hundred or thousands of pounds of vegetables each week, the anxiety still creeps in.

I might be missing the forest for the trees but the forest is just too overwhelming.  Better to just focus on the next item on my to-do list.  I’ll revel in the big picture in November will things have chilled out.

I did take a moment to take some pictures just before Randy sent out the newsletter, enjoy.
