Farm Share

What is CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a farming model based on a relationship between the farmer and the patrons of the farm.  Why have a CSA? In our typical food system, farmers bear all the risks of adverse weather and crop failure, while consumers enjoy the perennial summer of the grocery store. This leaves farmers exposed and at risk, and leaves consumers disconnected from the source of their food, feeling powerless to avert the crisis of the loss of our nation’s farmers and farmland. With CSA, farmers and the people they feed are in it together. We promise to provide a weekly box or bag of whatever is in season. You promise to get your vegetables from that farmer every week, often paying for the entire season’s worth of vegetables in advance. Farmers get added security, a fair price, cash flow at the beginning of the season when they need it most, and a real relationship with their members. Share-holders get the highest quality produce available, the satisfaction of supporting a local farm family, the security of know where their food comes from and how it is produced, and the enjoyment of visiting the farm and having a personal relationship with their farmers.

Is CSA right for you?

Community Supported Agriculture isn’t for everyone.  And before you join we want to make sure it’s right for you!   We Americans can buy whatever we want whenever we want it.  Joining a CSA is a huge shift from business as usual. To be happy with CSA, you have be able to get excited about eating what is in season, when it is season, as long as it is in season!  Do you like most vegetables and look forward to trying new things?  Bumper crops can mean a lot of the same thing, and crop failures may mean forgoing a favorite vegetable.  But if eating like a farmer sounds good to you, then you will love our CSA.

Our 2025 CSA

Our CSA season runs mid April to the mid November, in 2025 we will be taking a two week break between our Summer and Fall seasons. The last two weeks of August there will be no CSA.   All produce in our CSA is grown right here at Tubby Creek Farm and is Certified Naturally Grown.  In addition to our Full Share ($26.50 a week), we offer a Small Share ($19.50 a week) for smaller households. CSA Agreement

I appreciate local, sustainably grown produce and want to ensure that it remains available by participating in the Tubby Creek Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program. I understand that the farmers, Josephine and Randy Alexander, and staff pledge to do their best to provide the vegetables, fruits, herbs and eggs they propose at the times they estimate. However, as a shareholder in both the bounty and the risk, I understand that nature ultimately decides what I will receive and when I will receive it. I have read the refund policy below and understand there are no refunds after the CSA begins; however, I may sell or transfer my share to another party, with the approval of Tubby Creek Farm.

REFUND POLICY We do not offer refunds for shares, although we will accept transfers if you are unable to continue your subscription. Tubby Creek Farm must be consulted before you sell your share and has final approval of transfer of membership. In the unlikely event of dissolution of the CSA by the operators, refunds would be issued on a pro rata basis within 60 days of date of dissolution.

MISSED PICKUPS We harvest much of your share the day before your designated pick up day. If you are unable to pick up your share, you are welcome to send a friend. If you plan on being out of town or are unable to pick up a share, you are welcome to give it to someone else to pick up. Unclaimed shares are donated by discretion of the site coordinator. We do not provide refunds for missed shares, “double up” to make up for missed produce, or swap pick up days and locations.

SPLITTING SHARES Anyone splitting a share must do so on their own. Tubby Creek Farm is not responsible for payment or distribution when a share is split between parties and will not be involved in disputes between parties splitting shares.
