Enjoying Our Winter Break as We Plan 2025

Happy New Year!

It is winter on the farm and as it is a slower time of year, there are opportunities for rest and reflection.   We need to prepare for the coming year by planning and organizing and problem solving, but also by giving ourselves time to gather the mental and emotional energy it will take to welcome another growing season with enthusiasm and joy.  Not only have we been taking time with family, but both Randy and I have been enjoying our own hobbies.  I have had time for both oil painting and running.  Randy has been hunting with our friend John and a week ago got his first deer.

Although most of the farm is resting under a winter cover crop of oats and peas, greenhouse work is just beginning for native plant production.   Very soon we will be ordering seeds for the vegetable garden and starting the earliest crops in the greenhouse in mid-January.   We are still going to the farmers market with high tunnel crops and storage vegetables.  Bit by bit the days are already getting longer.

Members of our 2024 CSA can expect to find an email in their inbox soon with a link to sign up for our 2025 CSA season.   We will be opening the CSA to new members in mid-January.   We are grateful for our members and farmers market customers who make it possible for us to do what we love to do!
