Diving into November

Diving into November

We had such a wonderful time at the farm party and we were so wore out that we didn’t manage to get a newsletter out at all last week, our apologies!  But we really did have a fantastic time.  We were so caught up socializing and eating and showing folks around that neither Randy nor I took a single picture.

It looks like the ground may be wet now through the winter.  Happily, we got last of the sweet potatoes harvested before last week’s rain.   And we got some more winter cover crop seeded just in time.  It is going to be warm this week, so maybe it’ll dry out enough for us to get the holes augered for the apple trees we will be planting soon.   If not, I guess I’ll have some digging to do.

This week everyone is getting winter radishes.  Either watermelon radishes or purple daikon.  Winter radishes tend to have a lower water content than summer radishes, making them great for roasting, stir fry, or adding to soups.   But you can still enjoy them raw.  We made a simple radish and carrot salad to go with our Indian-spiced roasted cauliflower and chickpeas.
