Close Friends

This past week we had guests on the farm.  Three of my friends from college plus two spouses and three children, all close to Cooper’s age, came for a visit during their fall break.   They all live in Minnesota and it has been many years since I’ve seen any of them.  I am exceedingly grateful to have these people in my life, and wildly flattered that they chose to come here to the farm to see me and Randy and meet Cooper.  Cooper and the kids were instant friends and played non-stop.    We were all exhausted, but in the best way.

As promised, we started digging the carrots this week.   Be sure to remove the greens from your carrots.   They will wilt faster with the greens on.  The carrots are looking (and tasting) really good, and we should have an abundant crop this year.  We changed the number of rows per bed, and by doing so managed to avoid the problem we had last fall, when we seeded the carrots right on top of the buried drip tape, resulting in tiny stumpy carrots.
