Is CSA right for you?

Are you ready to take the plunge into Community Supported Agriculture?  It's not for everyone, so take this quiz to see if it's right for you:

1.  You like vegetables.  Your family likes vegetables.  You like to try new vegetables.  We grow a lot of different vegetables.  Sure, there will be plenty of the old standards we know and love, but there will likely be some new things, too.  If you would describe yourself as a veggie fiend, you are in the right place.

2.  You aren't traveling too much and you typically cook and eat at home.  If you are out of town frequently throughout the season, you wont be home to enjoy your vegetables or to pick them up!  Likewise, if you eat out frequently, you wont be home to cook your delicious vegetables.

3.  You typically shop for produce based on "what looks good" and what is in season.  We Americans are used to being able to buy whatever we want whenever we want it.  Joining a CSA is a huge shift from business as usual. To be happy with CSA, you have be able to get excited about eating what is in season, when it is season, as long as it is in season!  Get ready to plan your meals around what you have and not what you want.

4.  You want to have real, fulfilling, personal relationship with our farm.  CSA is not simply a "vegetable of the month club".  You are assuming the same risk that your farmers assume every year when they plant their fields.  Things can and do go wrong.  But CSA is also extremely rewarding, but you have to want that kind of reward.

If you said "yes" to all four, then congratulations!  We think you would enjoy being members of the Tubby Creek Farm CSA.  If not, don't worry, you can still enjoy our produce by visiting us at  area farmers markets.
